Changemakers: stories of people who did something
Some of the Eco Heroes books are built around a real person, and those are the ones children remember by name. The Banker to the Poor is Muhammad Yunus and the tiny loans that proved trust works. The Children's House is Maria Montessori and her belief that children learn best when free to explore. In His Mother's Gaze, Nelson Mandela remembers his mother's gaze in his cell on Robben Island. In The House of Hope, Elisabeth Eidenbenz opens a home in Elna for refugee mothers. In His Name is Murphy!, Murphy is Abril's beetle, and young Xiuhtezcatl Martínez gets ready to fight for the future. Use this set when a child asks the best question of all: but what can one person actually do?
