How sustainability appears

Ahead of COP28 the Ministry of Education adopted a Green Education Partnership Roadmap with four pillars (Greening Schools, Greening Learning/Curriculum, Greening Capacities, Greening Communities). The aim is to include 'the climate agenda in the UAE's educational system' and 'get every learner climate-ready'. MoE describes 'a comprehensive cross-curriculum framework for environmental sustainability', developed with IRENA, to be 'implemented in 100% of public and private schools, covering all 23 curriculums in the UAE'. Its four domains are Energy, The Earth's Biosphere, Resource Consumption and Climate Action, and Innovation for Sustainability. Environmental topics also appear in Social Studies and National Education and in the KG learning outcomes.
